Praashekh showed profound enthusiasm for this noble art from a very early age. After beginning his initial training in Hindustani Vocal and Tabla at the age of 3, Praashekh toyed with a mini-Sarod custom-made for him from the age of 4. When he was 7 years old he started taking serious formal lessons including hours of daily riyaz from his father and guru Pt.Shekhar Borkar under the Maihar Senia Gharana.
Growing up in a musical atmosphere, Praashekh was introduced to the importance of being a practitioner as well as an ardent listener of classical music at a very early age. After his first public performance at the age of 10, he was awarded a National talent scholarship by the Government of India in the same year, and there was no looking back. Soon after, he became a regular performer on All India Radio under the ‘Balodhyan’ programme, was awarded an All India Gold medal in music and was also awarded the Dattopant Deshpande trophy at the prestigious Sawai Gandharva festival, Pune by Pt.Shiv Kumar Sharma in the year 2000.|
Early accolades did not sway Praashekh away from regular Riyaz and Taleem. He soon began assisting his Guru for performances and classes. The title of 'Surmani' was conferred on him by Sur-Singar Samsad, Mumbai in 2006.
Sangeet Alankaar and various other awards and titles followed shortly after and he was commissioned to release his first Solo Classical Album ‘Utkarsh’ by Legendary Legacy Promotion Pvt Ltd in 2008.
